@pierremartini2229 - World travel also broadens people's minds allowing them to mix with others. This should also be funded by the state.

Yes - state Education should be set at a miminum level so that it has universal application. Higher Education should be a choice that the individual accepts responsibility for. There is no reason for the state to fund 'Medical School' level education for millions if it suddenly became fashionable - we don't need them. As it stands people with no academic interest fund others to undertake 'Women's studies' because it's fashionable amongst the political classes - not for any collective gain. In fact the strongest critics believe much of it to be pure activism/politics which means the less well-off fund the ideology of the better-off as it has always been.

@pierremartini2229 - I am extracting my tongue from my cheek in case any observers are confused - whilst printing the money for state travel for the educated how would we decide whether to fully fund them or how premium the accomodation & travel will be?

At last I can almost agree. But progressive tax bands would fail a 'tax spill-over test' in a broader context, as would all business taxation. We also don't really need a new mantra - 'the simple, broad & low' taxation philosophy would suffice.
