  1. No, it is the opposite: large alliances prevented many wars in the past. France and GB signing a treaty with USSR in 1938/39 may have deterred Nazi Germany to invade its neighbours. An alliance with Poland at the same time would have prevented it too. There are many examples of wars prevented by large alliances, the most obvious is NATO and Warsaw pact that prevented local or total wars in Europe.

  2. As stated above in a post: they will be part of every negociation or meeting about EU security. They had no say so far.

  3.  @Suksass  some alliance did not prevent war. And some did or could have. Every country needs allies, or it will be crushed by an enemy alliance sooner or later. The more allies you have, the stronger the alliance, better it is for the country security. That's basic politics.
