@77kromah I agree. The Only way I see is to build an ad hoc European force, composed from national armies, for limited, but agreed upon, missions.
The best example is the recent proposition for a 5000 men strong european force who could have covered retreat of Europeans from Afghanistan.
We had to rely on US forces to cover the operation, every European country sending a limited number of transport aircrafts and men.
If the US were not there, our people would still be in Afghanistan.
If we could build a force composed of predetermined national armies forces, give some power to the European presidency to commit it and negotiate for us, without having to ask to every European country first, for a well defined, limited number of predetermined missions, iit could be the core for an European force.
We could later add missions, commit larger forces, give more power to the EU presidency.
