@jamesu1540 No, I don't know where you get your data, but they are wrong.
UK is the 3rd regarding fishing, with 723 000t, behind Spain and Denmark, France is 530 000t. In total, catches in UK waters account for 30%
Fishing represents 166 000 jobs in the EU, 23 000 in France. With a no deal, Eu fishermen will loose 30% of their income.
It means first that, if some fishermen will loose their job, not all fishermen will. And the EU can economically compensate them for their loss.
Second, What looks strange is that, if French fishermen rightly fear a no deal Brexit, and Macron rightly backup that, UK citizens seem to welcome it. As stated above, UK fishing industry is larger than French one, and most of the fish is exported to the EU, if not processed there. One would imagine that a deal would benefit UK and be welcome...
Anyway, it is not up to the UK to decide what is good or bad for the EU. The EU can do it without any help or advice.
