Macron is the good guy, seeking for some solution that would allow Putin to end the war while saving face, while Boris Johnson is playing "bad cop", threatening Russia. Zelenski plays on the two sides: "we'll do no concessions" (he knows he will have to compromise if he wants to end the war, but put the price as high as he can) This is common negociation tactics.
