@WALTERBROADDUS yes, there are a better fit. Both can supercruise, are stealthier, and have 2 engines for better safety. Both are multirole and fulfill different types of missions, including air superiority, with an AESA radar and the best BVR missile available, the Meteor.

Yes, both the Eurofighter and Rafale were better options.

@UCbXS3oejyvFVpEvg-VlFQxw long answer, so: - Both EF and Rafale are more advanced than F-15 and F/A-18. They can supercruise and are stealthier. Both US fighters are also at the end of their development life. Future updates will be limited. Boeing is considering closing the SH production line if no orders are received in the near future. - compared to the F-35, they can supercruise, carry fuel tanks to extent range, are Meteor compatible and have 2 engines. - compared to the Gripen, they are heavier, with a higher payload and 2 engines. - the Rafale is selling well. Dassault received today an order for 80 Rafales for the UAE. They will open a second production line. Germany will order more EF, Spain may also. So, not too bad. Is it clear, now?

@Albertkallal your figure is for internal tanks only. both EF and Rafale can carry external tanks. The F-35 cannot. Both Eurocanards have more fuel, so a better range. Which is important for a country like Canada. Costs are just estimated. The F-35 flight cost per hour is $33600, FY 2020 figures. Expected to be $30000 in 2023.

@Albertkallal thank you for your information about external tanks. So basically, the F-35 can have optional wing tanks, like any other fighter. Good. Your costs are just estimates you can find on the internet, and likely to be biased. The figure I used is the US govt. Not a bad source, I think. As it is a highly sensitive subject every manufacturer keeps secret, I'll let potential customers decide for themselve. Anyway, what I pointed out is still valid: i think both the EF and Rafale are more suited to Canada requirements. Edit: the swiss selected the F-35 as it was cheaper. Cost was revised recently, however, and cost increased of 20%.

@WALTERBROADDUS Troll!

@WALTERBROADDUS so, still no argument. You just confirm you are a troll.

@WALTERBROADDUS is that your argument? We know they are not under consideration, everybody knows that. We also know the alledge reasons why Dassault and Airbus pulled out of the competition. What do you mean by 'they have not won many deals?' Porsche sells less cars than Toyota. Does it mean there are worst?
