  1. MG or20mm rounds could not penetrate turret top armour or glacis of German tanks. But I suspect some could penetrate engine deck, through the vent grid for example. This could not kill the tank, only break some parts, carburetor, fans... this was easy to fix, but the tank was disabled until mechanics arrive and replace damaged parts,.And for then, combat was over. Pity is that I could not find any evidence of my hypothesis ;-)
