  1. Germany is looking for a replacement of its Tornadoes. They will use the F-35 for strike, nuclear strike and, maybe, antishipping, if they buy some. The Eurofighter is their air superiority asset, and it will be updated to fill the ECW role. The only reason they have to buy the F-35 is that it can deliver the B-61 nuclear bomb, unlike other fighters.

  2.  @mkettune  Very few people can answer your question, and they are not allowed to comment it on the Net😀 My feeling, based on sources I've come across, is that the F-35 is not the silver bullet described by its fans in the air superiority role. No supercruise, limited agility. Stealth is overated: it is not invisible, has a very low RCS from the front only, has a huge IR signature, and will be detected as soon as it fires a missile. I think, however, that it is at least decent in that role, and that stealth compensates for its shortcomings.

  3. I think he means a replacement for the Bundesmarine tornadoes. They are equiped with antiship missiles (AS 34 Kormoran).

  4.  @stevepirie8130  Well, i don't think so. - The F-35B is more expensive and has lower performance compared to the F-35A. I cannot see why Germany would spend money on these aircrafts when they can have better ones for less money for their own use. - all the navies you mention have the number of aircrafts required for their AC, unless an agreement is found to build a new AC together, or Germany buys a second hand AC- which is not forecast - there is no point in having more aircrafts than required. No, Germany is looking for a replacement for the ageing Tornadoes, in the ECW, antiship and nuclear strike roles. An updated Eurofighter in the first case, an EF or, more likely an F-35 for the second, an F-35 for the third.

  5. Why are you against drones? (Genuine question) killing though a drone, a cannon, a bomb, a cruise missile makes no difference?

  6.  @ChallengerCC  I can't see your point, sorry. A drone is not 'good' or 'bad', it is who pilot them, or have designed their software, that are. Like an artillery shell is not good or bad, it just explodes wherever it was aimed at.
