@SerendipitousProvidence No, a past infinite cosmos is the simplest explanation. It requires no spaceless timeless external agents, no causality, no special powers, nothing that does violate what we know of our universe. What you call empirical and metaphysical is just your intuition, which is irrelevant when trying to demonstrate anything.

@SerendipitousProvidence you assume the universe was created ex nihilo for it to exist. It may have existed for all eternity, and no God is required.

@SerendipitousProvidence We don't know what was before our space time universe. We don't even know if "before" meant something. So, no, there is no "current evidence" to support a first cause. And, no, there are no problems with infinites. Physicists deal with them every day. The universe may be infinite in space, some think, and a past infinite is possible (I would say it is likely, but that's me).
