How is aviation in russia going at the moment? I heard that many airports were closed because many aircrafts were grounded due to sanctions. I heard that automobile plants were closed for 2 months because their supply chains were severed, and are restarting now a bit, delivering cars that lack airbags, ABS and other safety devices?

@wolftone4818 microchips are made of silicon. It is the second most abundant component on earth, after oxygen. So, a shortage is very, very unlikely.

@wolftone4818 why do you talk about China, when it is about Russia? No, very few raw material are used to make a chip. A chip is made of silicon, plastic and some gold and copper for the wires. And most machines come from Western companies, meaning that China will face retaliation if they go around sanctions. It is true, however, that russia is a major raw material exporter. But there are others. Meaning that the prices will rise, but shortages are unlikely. There is no ban on import of raw materials from russia, at least for the EU, but russia may put one... if they are willing to loose the money they obtain for it.

...Add to that the ruble is high: russia gets less rubles when they sell something in foreign currencies.

Russia is still trading in dollars, euros,.... Nobody wants to use the ruble. If russia wants to buy washing machines from Turkiye, or car spare parts in China, they don't pay in rubles. Even europe pays in euros to Gasprom through Gasprombank.
