  1. And here comes the WTO. What do you think will happen if the US puts high tariffs on some imported goods? Exporting countries will retaliate by putting tariffs on US imported goods. Last time the US did this, the EU targeted some specific goods made in states where senators or governors voted for these tariffs. Nobody will win, in the end.
