  1. Here in the states, CB got so big that nearly every town had a CB store by the mid to late 1970's. CB's were also sold by Radio Shack, Department Stores, Appliance Stores, Truck Stops and even Drug Stores. CB went to 40 channels in 1977 and later that year, the licenses became free. April 28 1983, the FCC dropped licensing requirements for CB. Some sixty-four years after the introduction of CB radio in 1958, our FCC finally approved FM for CB radio in 2021.
