  1. They used Laser Discs in the early days of Karaoke. As soon as the smaller VCD size Karaoke disc became available, the Karaoke DJ's stopped used laser discs altogether because the Karaoke VCD's were much cheaper, they were more convenient to use and most important of all...They were much lighter, so that made them much easier to lug around from gig to gig...
