So how many countries other than the U.S. and Canada have unfused extension cords? What about Europe? South America? The rest of the world? I thought the U.K. is the only one that fused their plugs/extension cords.

Of course you know what's going to happen the minute we switch to fused extension cords. Someone is using the extension cord for their portable heater and the fuse blows, since it's the middle of the night and the stores are closed. Why not stick a piece of aluminum foil in place of the fuse and then use the extension cord again for the portable heater. You know, much like back in the olden days when we had those screw on fuses in our electric boxes. Out of a fuse? No problem, just stick a penny in there and you're good to go...
