  5.  @sikandersingh3145  Why would the govt. do that?? .. It's extremely stupid and self-serving demand. Why does someone think they are entitled to such protections in the first place, especially since no one else other than Punjab, harayana and some parts of Western UP get it???? No other item other than Wheat, Rice, Sugar and few others enjoy these provisions. This has lead to farmers producing more and more rice and wheat even though there is no market to buy it. That has lead to depletion of water levels, thanks to all the free electricity and water. Why do farmers from Punjab get these assurances and sell paddy at Rs 1850, when farmers from other places in India sell it at Rs 1250?? If you can't understand that even after getting cheap inputs (like free water & electricity and subsidized fertilizer) and selling price which is 50% above market value, the unit economics is still not working out, then you need to diversity out of it, then nothing much can be done to help them. By opposing the farm laws, the farmers have tightened the noose around their neck. So many people including SS Johal said it, but when people are so eager to kill themselves, no one can stop it from happening.
