India has never ignored population control. It went to such heights that during the emergency doctors were given quotas for vasectomy and when they couldn't find enough people they would get the police to pick random people up from the streets. In other more civilised times, there were various schemes to help with population control as well. It's a well-accepted phenomena that the only thing that leads to population control is women empowerment, which is something that is closely tied with the economy of a country. It's not very smart to think population control is what leads to better economy either. India's population growth is below the replacement rate now and China which artificially controlled the population through policy is only starting to pay the heavy price that it will continue to pay for some decades now. And the proportion of overseas diaspora is directly proportional to two things, (1) The disparity in Wealth distribution between two nations (which wasn't because of nations failures) and (2) the Success of a Nation in educating it's people enough so as to be capable of finding jobs or running businesses in more advanced economies. What Indians take pride in is not that some many people went abroad, but that for whatever reasons they had to go abroad, given the system there they are doing well. Way better than other communities. You seem to be conflating different but closely related issues.

Not sure why it has to be an either or situation. This isn't television sir. It's not like only one thing can be run at any given point. And given that Pakistan is India's neighbour with vested interest against India, is a failed state and a nuclear one at that is all the more reason to discuss Pakistan. Pakistan IS one of the "lot of issues" of our country that we need to talk about.

@abhinashkumar3161 I agree. For this particular occasion though, The Print may have thought since Ayesha Siddiqa is in Delhi it would be good to get a face-to-face interview, especially since she regularly writes for The Print. And the only thing that one can interview a Pakistan expert about is, Pakistan.

@himanshusoni528 Well, half of the things that you claim can be proved clearly wrong by just looking at stats. But I don't want to continue with the so-called endless debate, especially when someone starts making stuff up. Let's agree to disagree and end this here.
