@pratikyadav841 That's like saying if F1 drivers are professional drivers then why do they crash? Accidents happen. Unless someone is God, they can't prevent it.

The resignation might increase Ashwini Vaishnav's integrity but it will basically mean BJP admits to the failure( which shouldn't be attributed to BJP but the system). I don't think they will do it, unless there is a huge political pressure. Also, if Ashwini Vaishnav resigns from this portfolio, it won't be the end of it. The net demand will be to remove him from other portfolio he holds. The opposition will say " Do we want an incompetent minister handling other portfolios?" Your suggestion is that of a suicide.

Three very wrong assumptions in your argument. 1. The TV debates you refer to and lament about are a very recent phenomenon of Indian TV. Kargil was the first televised war and Godhra riots were the first televised riots. So, basically there was nothing on TV before 2000. 2. TV debates never "kept the govt. of the day on check". If that was true, 2G scam, Coal scam and the rest would never have happened. 3. You are comparing a period when one party was in the govt. with coalition and the opposition was very strong v/s a time when one party has a majority with very weak opposition. The situation is very different. If the opposition was strong enough, there would still be debates on TV. Unfortunately, Rahul Gandhi sleeps for 3.5 years out of 5 years. Wakes up 1.5 years before for a yatra and then believes he deserves to win because he worked just before the election.
