@bigfigher "India's reponse was probably the worst the world has seen" - That will be highly contested even outside India. The world consensus seems to believe India's response was better than many countries. "It was the worst india had ever seen since independence." - Let's not compare with times without having lived experience.

@bigfigher I hope you understand that the excercise is NOT to narrate, acutely and selectively, how India did at covid's peak BUT to comparatively study India's response over the entire period of 3 waves and then compare it with other state responses while adjusting for per capita GDP. I hope you see the excercise that you are putting effort into is the former, not the later, while it should be the later.

@ravinakuwar1407 My guess is, bigfisher guy is a BJP hating Malayali, who at this point is unable to differentiate between his hate for BJP from his hate for Indians. He would much rather make up narratives about India to show it in bad light, even if it's not true, as long as it looks like BJP did a bad job.

@bigfigher "Unfortunately when the going was tough for us, our leaders disappeared and not seen outside unlike most of the other countries. " - I got your perspective. But I disagree with the assessment and from what I know most countries think India handled the situation fairly well, given India's per capita GDP and India Health Care System, which can't be upgraded overnight.

@bigfigher "My understading is that most of the countries thought exactly opposite." - I think you have made that pretty clear. "Many internatioal medias even wrote 'where is indian govt'. " - Quoting international media isn't a very smart gesture. They have a habit of showing India in a bad light to divert attention from the failures of their own governments. "India's healthcare system is not that bad. States like kerala handled the situation much much better" - Kerala has a very high HDI and it's healthcare is much better than other states. But when you were talking about 'floating bodies' you were referring UP. You can't paint all over India with the same brush. But it's an undeniable fact that Indian healthcare system is much less equipped as compared to all the other countries and the their media houses you are mentioning. "why Modi did not address the country when it was going though one of the worst periods in its entire history. " - How is this a requirement? .. How would the PM addressing the country have made difference in medical handling of the situation? "On the contracy, Biristh, American, French, German, Italian leaders... all of them addressed people through media on daily basis when the they face the worst of worst." - Firstly, why compare India with countries with 25x of India's per capita GDP? .. And how does it matter if they addressed the people? .. They didn't do very well in handling the situation. I lived in UK until very recently and my sister lives in Canada. I am speaking from personal experience. Not sure why are you glorifying the activity of 'addressing people'. As if that saves lifes more than vaccinating people, which is what India did.

@bigfigher "The world consensus seems to believe that india had handled the covid far wrose than any other country. " - Only people who read too much of The Quint and watch too much of The Wire believe in such super alarmist black & white portrayal of the situation. Exactly opposite is true. It's expected that readers of The Print be better informed. But you are free to believe what you like. And So am I. Let's agree to disagree and move on.

@bigfigher " I follow multiple natinoal and international news media. " - Each of which have their own agenda. If you really want to understand what the world thinks about a particular situation you need to follow policy discussions of various think tanks. You will find a more realistic assessment there. "People who watch republic TV belive that no one died in india due to covid" - I am sure that they do.

@治强 Dude.. "less than 20k deaths" is bullsh*t only communist apologists believe. Given the number of prominent people that have died it's pretty clear that the number is much higher than "20k". But the "calculative" govt of yours is doing what it does best. It's hiding numbers. As per some estimates, 14k people are dying each day. Zero Covid policy wasn't cancelled due to "scientific study". That's another bullsh*t. It was cancelled cause Mr. PepaPig(Xi) was worried about the growing protests. If CCP was so scientific it would have allowed vaccines from other countries with better efficacy, not Sh*tty sinovac with 30% efficacy. So, you may go back to the closed Chinese internet and spread the crappy propaganda there. I don't think anyone here has patience for it. Btw, covid still hasn't peak in China. That will happen around March. Thanks to your "scientific" government, the country is suffering from peak Covid 2 years after other countries have.
