For BJP it's around 20% of the voters. They vote for BJP no matter what. Ideological issues like the Ram mandir only satisfies them. You should investigate why the other 18% vote for Modi. Otherwise you will sit in US and keep wondering why Modi wins elections. Btw, BJP is far better than Congress ever was on all the "crucial issues" that you mentioned.

But I find most of the people who don't vote BJP have a superiority complex and operate under assumptions like "BJP voters can't present a coherent argument" and think that is probably the reason why they vote for BJP. "I mean, who in their right minds would vote for a conservative party like BJP?" .. that's what I keep hearing. Most of these people lack even the basic understanding of Indian politics and India's policy requirements.

Once the demographic dividend is gone then all of us can be poor and debate who was more bigoted. Until then I will chose the lesser evil. A more prosperous society also means communal riots can't be engineered, more dignified life for everyone and a more tolerant and cohesive society. But that is never going to happen with Prince charming in power. But I don't think you are farsighted enough to be able to see that. For me economy is all that matters. Everything else depends on economy. Everything.
