When i worked for garages in the UK in my time (Past 20 yrs) i've never seen mechanics use distilled water,it was always tap water from a watering car....a dirty watering can PLUS it was never really an accurate coolant mix. That shows why you should do jobs on your car yourself.

Reason why i do my own work on my car is many places incl here in the UK they just drag the work on to get as much out from the customer.I know i work in the car trade for many years so learned a few stuff and i'm in a different job now so i can call up a mate for a job i can't do or not got the right tools for the job.

All the top end oil i think should be used in high end cars.Normal vehicles incl work trucks are just fine with normal full syn.Just change the oil well before the manufacturers recommendation with a decent filter.I use Magnatec as i do little mileage and town use 3k pa and it runs sweet as nut plus goes quick for a 1.3L.All this 10.000 miles oil change is too much when we live in this day and age of traffic jams, sitting idling etc.

From the UK here,so many go by those dash service monitor! Also many think going up to 10,000/12,000m a year is the norm....because that's what car programs/magazines & book value guide price say, ie Car that's driven 12,000m a year.Servicing at 10k/12k is the MIN service requirement for the vehicle. Some garages also use cheap oil filters & mediocre oil or even cheap oil to save money.

This is a tip we in the trade over here in the UK say,i avoid vehicles 2yrs old,i go for 3yrs! In 2008 i got a 2002 Yaris,1999 was the year they first came out....so avoided 3 yrs. Many vehicles are stock piled.
