Exactly! I'd say 5,000m MAX. Because in 10yrs time it's sound & run sweet as a nut with good mpg compared to 10,000m, as a lot of owners do. I spray WD40 or even GT85 everywhere 2x a year....i mean incl all around the engine, underneath it incl the back....plus brake pipes, hand brake cables & rear beam incl subframe. I looked after my 2002 Yaris for 13yrs like that, sold it on as the road tax was getting real silly! New owner has it now for 3 yrs with it passing it's MOT every time! Only failed ONCE i had it....bl**dy wiper blade. Very, very minor rust on inner rear wheel arch but i put this semi-hard plastic edge runners on it with spray grease in the gap to ease the rust, still looks great today as it hasn't spread. I still talk to the new owner today as he loves it. My new 2015 Yaris i got is £35 road tax with 58mpg a few times (60mpg on paper) & old Yaris is £255! But with 49mpg just the once i got at BEST! Makes sense to get a newer car!

Do change the CVT fluid 4yrs or 40,000 max & it'll last.

@30300steve I feel for you, worked at a garage for over 35yrs but not a mechanic but are close to those who work on them....seen so much change & frustration in the workshop.

Got 58mpg from my 2015 1.3L Yaris with CVT,brilliant & smooth. The manual gets worse MPG believe it or not.

10k too much.

@torquecars Got 59.1mpg x2 recently & seems i can't get better,@63mph the idle is 1,500rpm. Heard the 6speed manual Yaris had a better 6th gear ratio that helps get better mpg i hear....this is the MK3 1.3L Yaris.

Bang on!

What about CVT's? Pressed sport by mistake once & the revs shot up an extra 500rpm.

The "Slow and docile driver" engine will last longer that's the thing!

@Richard_Johnson69 never changed my PCV on my 2002 Yaris for 14yrs,just cleaned it out & kept an eye on it, sold it on 4 yrs ago & still speak to the new owner.....same PCV. Not having constant dirty oil in the engine helps. Oil change every 5,000 miles max is important.

Cheap engine flush don't work, you gotta spend more to get a better result as cheaper ones just thins out your oil. I've used FORTE engine flush with great results...worth the price about every 5 yrs i say. That's when if you change the oil no more than 5,000 miles with decent or mid tier oil quality & you'll have a healthy reliable engine for many, many years. Using cheap fuel isn't a good idea,ok once every 5 tanks is ok.
