  1. Me personally from over the pond never put the oil cap on the hood latch,why risk closing the hood & breaking the cap? I leave it by the wipers so i can 100% clearly see it's there & no oil has been added. Also when you lean over into the engine bay there is a slight risk of nudging it down the engine bay somewhere....then again a risk of it going into a tight space so why mess about?
