  20.  @uhohotdog3483  The beach was a let down. Beyond beautiful; actual powder white sand, Crab Island, etc. But I also lived in Destin , waterfront studio, and didn’t go to the beach. To me it’s just a gorgeous coastline. For me to call it a beach it would need lots of 🌴, music, on site eateries, etc. Emerald Coast is nice and quiet, but very empty for what I’m used to.

  36. I’m paying a third of what a restaurant meal costs me in the US. I lived in 8 States, last 5 being TX, WY, CO, CA, FL and a meal for 5 at a restaurant would average $250-$350. I have not paid more than $150 in Japan at same/better quality restaurants.

  46. If you want to start a family, but you are broke, and don’t have a steady job/career, you hold off on starting a family. Once you get a permanent job, steady income, transportation, house, then you feel more prepared to start a family. That’s all

If anyone deserves a tip, is the service provided in Japan regardless of what type of establishments. S. Korea customer service also very similar to Japan during the year I lived there.

  55.  @decade4music  That is not the difference at all. Immigrants can also move at any time. There is no timeframe, or intent that defines one or the other. If you leave your country, and you are not on vacation at the new country, your are an immigrant. Yes...the incorrect use of tbe word expat is now almost synonymous of Foreigners. But the root was....I'm superior to you, I'm in denial that I had to leave, I want to stay in a bubble, etc. I was born in the US...... I have lived in Canada, Caribbean, Philippines, Korea, Germany , all US time zones......never once identified myself as an expat.

  56.  @decade4music  We all know that dictionary definition is a little outdated. When I lived in Korea, I was an American that jumped at a job opportunity, and moved/migrated to Korea for that job. When the contract was over, I moved again. See.....the use of the word expat is unnecessary .

  74. When I moved from NYC to San Antonio many years ago....I stopped at a KFC in Tennessee for lunch. After attempting several times to order....I had to walk out of the KFC because I couldn't understand what the workers were saying. Went across the street to a McDonald's, and used hand signs to order food.
