  1. The ex-Governor here forgot to say that the tax law he signed 10 years ago has not help the local population at all. The Island went bankrupt in 2015, and poverty rates skyrocketed. He was Governor from 2009 to 2013.

  3.  @dtxgmoney  They don’t want Statehood. Last time there was a real referendum that wasn’t boycotted like the last 4-6 ones, the option” Non of the above” was the winner. And you are correct, Most of the people in PR do not pay Federal Income taxes, but they do pay several other Federal taxes that amount to more than if they paid Income Tax. Statehood would add an additional layer of taxes to the already existing outrageous ones that exist. Sales tax was 11.5% last time I visited just before COVID. And they all pay State Tax also.
