I moved from Florida to Tokyo in Jul 2023. Our cost of living was cut in half in Japan even though we are doing way more traveling and eating out than in the US. Wife and I both in our 40s and both receive military retirement, so we don’t have to worry about income. Best decision we’ve ever made! Quality of life improved 1000% And we are not white, so no special treatments from the locals.😂

I moved from Vacaville CA to Niceville Florida in 2022. I thought I was going to save extra money. Cost of living was exactly the same as CA, but now I had nothing to do 😂

@emarquez70 I lived in South Korea and agree with your statement. I was recently in Busan and had a blast, but prefer the Japanese lifestyle. I’m an introvert, Wife and I are each military retirees and in our 40s, so we basically are at the stage of our lives where we are just enjoying the moments. Japan is perfect for us.

This is why I decided on Japan. Safest country, cost of living is half of what we had in FL. And Wife and I both receive military pensions, so we are living the dream in our 40s. Combined pension is $120k/year.

@ I thought Florida would alleviate the costs of living in CA, but nothing changed. Saved a little in housing costs, but spent more in insurance and other things that ended up in the same amount of costs at the end of the month. 😂 After 15 months, sold everything, moved to Tokyo, and now our costs of living are half.

@underconstruction4413 I’m here on a Recreational visa. And working on residential. Easier process because of our income.
