I was born, and lived in Manhattan growing up....close to Katz's. I would have to win the Mega Millions to be able to move back there.

Some big cities still feel small. I lived in San Antonio TX for 8 years, and it always felt like I was living in a small town.

@WitchyWhale European city living is way superior to anything in the US. Some places in the US are starting to build the mixed community type suburbs that are similar to European living....I've seen some in CO and WA. But not even close to the convenience of Europe style.
10
Some suburbs are just houses and schools......with the typical gas station, fast food and convenience store. I live close to Fort Collins in Colorado.....and a town nearby called Wellington has become the housing area for Ft Collins. Nothing but subdivisions being built.

I almost moved to FL from WY. Decided for PNW instead......happening in 2021.

@alexh349 Depends on how well planned the suburb is. Urban/suburban planning is not a strength in the USA

@theoneandonlypinkypinky8245 I left in 2003....it was my second time in NYC. 1st was 1974-1988 Returned 1998-2003.

@earlystrings1 I live in Cheyenne WY...and before covid, spent all my free time in CO. Definitely one of the best states in the country. If they didn't tax retirement....I would've moved there a long time ago. But I think I'm spending whatever Im saving on retirement income tax , on gas anyway. I do everything in CO....groceries , airport, dine, mall, shopping, entertainment, ski, hiking....lol. Better do some math on the hoax of living in WY to save on taxes.

@susanhowell1673 Nice!!! I'm done with subzero temperatures for 8 months....lol. Although I wanted FL....I have lived in the tropics.....and not ready for that heat again. I'll do rainy WA over cold WY.....it's still an upgrade.

@susanhowell1673 I'm moving to the coastal side of the Cascades. Reminds me a lot of my time in Germany. Politics don't bother me. I have lived in extreme left places, and have lived now for 6 years in extreme right WY. Doesn't change how I live or treat others.

@burtarrieta5956 Not really. Divorce rate here in WY is one of the highest in the USA. Suicide rate ia also up there. Going to church would definitely help with social life since there are not many people around, and not much to do.

@robertbutterworth1207 Is it really that bad? I'm currently looking into moving from Wyoming, to somewhere between Pensacola and Panama City.

@wanda32 I'm looking into Bremerton, Vancouver, Olympia suburbs, Everett, Bellingham, Burlington. I live in Cheyenne Wyoming and home prices in those places mentioned are exactly the same as here....$400k for a 4br house. Both states have no income tax. The big difference is that one state has normal living, the other is like living in Mars. Im also looking into FL...the north half of FL.....just struggling with the issue of heat, mosquitoes and hurricanes. I have lived in San Antonio TX and in Puerto Rico....so not a new environment for me. PNW has a more pleasant weather....only concern is if the rain will make me depressed. I've been in WY 6 years, and the weather here has killed my soul about 4 times over.

@luvslogistics1725 WY has no income tax, and sales tax is 6%. House prices are higher than they should be, because of the low inventory. Property taxes are low....like $100 a month for a $300k house. In my case....all my needs are in CO.....so all my purchases are in CO sales tax. Winter in WY is brutal.....it snows sideways.....and the wind here in Cheyenne is challenging most of the year. Front range Colorado winter is milder than WY. I have no idea how it is West of the Rockies.

@reyruiz1258 I agree. I only mentioned it as in how much the area has changed.

Leaving the US seems like the best option. So many countries with a better quality of life than us.
1
@1158supersiri I did not write China on my post....lol. I have lived in Canada, Germany, South Korea, Philippines, USVI. Had better life in all, than in the places I have lived in the US, except Colorado.

David Compestela Agree. I'm also grateful to have been born and lived in the US, no question. Just sharing that I have experienced better quality of life in several other countries I have lived in.

@wanda32 PNW=Pacific Northwest. Some areas are getting expensive and pricing people out. But other areas are still ok.
1
@thomasdosborneii Yes...leaving Wyoming. Can't deal with this weather and wind anymore. Have been depressed for the last 5 years....I had never suffered from depression my previos 40 years of existence. I always thought depression was a made up symptom.......I was wrong.

@burtarrieta5956 Yes. Example.....if the election was between a rock running as a Republican, and a human running as a Democrat.... The rock would win the elections. Lol During my lifetime, I have lived in places at both extremes of the political spectrum ....none bothers me.

@here_we_go_again2571 I agree. I mentioned winning the lottery as the only affordable way to be able to live there. But I wouldn't go back. There isn't really a place in the US where I would settle. I would take my lottery money and move to Malaga or Tagaytay.

@earlystrings1 Not nice at all......the nice part of Wyoming is 8 hours from Cheyenne. Teton and Yellowstone.
