  1.  @luisangel444  Because it could’ve been just like Singapore, but it’s not allowed to be. As a Colony, all decisions are made by the Mainland, without consent of the inhabitants. It’s in the US Constitution, Territorial Clause.

  6.  @armlleras  Federal Income tax, very little paid. Other Federal Taxes, as much and on some cases more than 48 States. Having to use the Merchant Marine is a tax.

  8.  @Cotswolds1913  Puerto Rico does pay many types of Federal Taxes. The worker doesn’t pay Federal Income Tax, just like half of the population on the Mainland doesn’t pay Federal Income Tax. So before you go posting nonsense, at least know about the place.
