I'm from NYC and the police there is no joke. It's as strong as any federal level law enforcement agency. NYC is ran as an independent country.

Visited Seattle for the first time in May 2018. Loved it to the point of possibly retiring withing an hour of the city....but the homelessness that I saw near Pikes Place was shocking. And I grew up in the projects of Manhattan....still found it shocking.

@tolfan4438 Lol...that's in Washington, not NYC. NYC votes on candidates, not party. That's why we had Mayor... Giuliani (R), DiBlasio (D), Bloomberg (I) A Mayor of a city bigger than numerous countries.

@tolfan4438 That has been going on for decades. Nothing new. A lot of things are tested in NYC to measure public opinion. Like putting calories on menus, limiting soda cup sizes, taxes on tobacco, etc etc. If it works, its adopted nationwide, if it fails, they move on the next shiny thing.
