What I stated was a simple fact. 300 years under Spain rule (wars), and a few years under Japanese occupation (also war).......and the US managed to kill more Filipinos in 3 years than those other 300+ years combined...... To include massacres . I lived 1 minute away from the Balangiga Bells in FE Warren. I was there in 2017 when Mathis signed over the return of the Bells.

Many Senators opposed it, saying that the US could not annex a land of savages. This is called the Isular Cases, Supreme Court of the USA. Since nobody wanted annexation of the Philippines.....a term was invented to prevent all new territories from ever becoming a State of the US. The term is "Unincorporated Territory ". Basically a Colony. From that point on, every territory acquired from Spain, and future possessions, were taken under the term Unincorporated Territories. Hawaii and Alaska were already territories of the US before this new Court decision was made for the new possessions.
