You forgot to add the downside of Wyoming tax. House prices are higher than average...for example, 400k would get you a new 3 bedroom house. Property taxes are average...but when you factor that you are paying more for a house...it reflects on the tax appraisal. Also....8-9 months of winter increases utility costs. And every year to renew your car registration, it costs over $1000 .

@shellybennett8194 I live in Cheyenne. I tell everyone that the best thing about living here is CO....lol. I have to go to Ft Collins, Loveland, Denver for pretty much all of our needs because even though we are in the State capital.....it doesn't offer much. For shopping, food, entertainment, we have to leave the State. I don't think I'm benefiting from living here. Wife and I both military retired.

Property tax is average...but house prices are insanely high....so you end up paying taxes on that inflated price. I bought a $350k new build 4 bedroom that would cost $225k in TX or FL.

It costs over $1000 every year to renew your car registration. They really hate modern transportation here....lol

Mustafa Alam Subway? We barely got an airport last year. 1 daily flight out of Cheyenne. Everyone has to go to Denver for normal air transportation.

@Drivenaway89 I paid $1000 to change texas license plates to WY. And no.....there are no airports in WY.....regional airports yes. Like here in Cheyenne....1 daily flight. That's not an airport. If you know of any major airports in WY please let me know....I'm tired of driving to Denver.

Mustafa Alam Yes. Wyoming doesn't have an airport. The one here in Cheyenne opened a year ago. Offers 1 flight to Dallas per day, one return flight from Dallas per day. Denver Colorado is our closest airport.

Mustafa Alam I live in the State Capital, Cheyenne. Denver airport is about 2 hour drive with traffic.

ReddNekk13 You are right ......I purchased 3 new vehicles on 3 consecutive years.....that's why I thought it was the norm. But on the second year of the last one purchased.....the registration was $170. What a relief....lol. I was ready for another $1000. But overall, still the worst place I have lived my entire life.

@trwoody1 Yes...I lived in San Antonio for 10 years, and had 2 new built homes ( one was rented). Both houses combined (a 4 br and a 3 br) cheaper than just one 4br house in WY. Property taxes were high! TX is the 3rd highest in the Country, only NJ and NH beat TX. So true about the football stadiums for high schools...lol Completely ridiculous

@Drivenaway89 And if the car is leased...you pay full amount registration every year.
2
@trwoody1 You get used to it. Some nicer temperatures squeeze in between sometimes. But the property tax is still super low. My point was that it could've been even lower if the properties were not priced as if they were in Denver. A few weeks ago I was quoted $1100 combined, to renew the registration on my 2 vehicles.

That's what I thought.....lol Ready to leave.

Mustafa Alam I'm originally from Manhattan....so I knew when you asked....lol. I was looking forward to train transportation when moving here since it seemed like a thing when I read about Cheyenne before moving. But when I got here, learned that it's only cargo trains. Again.....have to go to Denver if I want to ride the Amtrak that goes from Chicago to San Francisco

Blake D Same for me, once I found out about the Military waiver....$35 per car. We now live in California and registration renewal is coming up in November. I'm a WY resident, my Wife isn't . I called Cheyenne for a quote..... $550 for 1 vehicle, $450 for the other. In California it will be $130 per car with the military waiver. Sadly we will have to put on California plates on our vehicles.
