  3.  @4uFriday  I lived in San Antonio for 8 years. It wasn't as shocking as my 1st minutes in Miami.....lol. And I speak English, Spanish, Tagalog....so I'm not criticizing. It was just unexpected. Felt as I had landed in San Juan.

  4. Been to Paris 6 times and it has always been a great experience. I lived in Germany for 4 years, so it was very easy.

  5. I moved to Cheyenne WY in 2014 after retirement because of the tax benefits and other things that always come up on "best places to retire" lists. It was the greatest mistake of my life. I have to go to Colorado for everything....groceries, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, airport. So I save zero on taxes, and I waste a lot of money on gas. It would be cheaper to me to just live in Colorado, even if they tax retirement. Moving out of WY in 2021 to WA or Florida panhandle.

  8. I just moved from WY to CA, and my Quality of life improved 10,000%. Those 9 months of WY winter really take a toll on your mental well-being.

  10. I'm in Wyoming, but I do everything in Colorado. I retired in WY because it always makes the top 10 lists.......but it is completely a dead place. I have to go to Colorado for groceries, shopping, entertainment, restaurants, airport, etc etc.

  11.  @janisbentzen4503  I was referring to the landscape. Every time I see a Wyoming video, it shows Teton/Yellowstone. But 95% of WY looks exactly like Nebraska, not like Jackson Hole.

  12.  @shaynefronheiser4662  We get a lot of people from ND that move here to Cheyenne ( Air Force).....and they say the winter is more bearable than ND. ND....a little more snow WY....way more windy Both winters are same length..up to 9 months long sometimes.

  15.  @zackbrand9311  Well.....where the nature is in Wyoming.....is mostly uninhabited, and very far. So you can't live in those areas. 90% of WY is flat high plains of nothingness. I do go to the Rocky Mountains in CO a lot for hiking and skiing. Closer to me than anything in WY. I moved to WY for their tax advantages.....but after 6 years I did the math....and it would be cheaper to live in CO and pay higher taxes. So I will be moving out in December. Will return to WY when I'm like 95 years old. That's the perfect age for living in WY. And politics thankfully have no weight on where I live. I have lived happily in the most conservative places in the country, and also in the most liberal. Also lived in Europe, Canada, Caribbean, Korea, Philippines.

  18. I live in Wyoming, but I spend all my money in Colorado. Its truly a wonderful state. Moving to the Bay area in California in December. 1st time living on the West Coast.

  20.  @dogbsas  I have no issues with the language, I speak 3 languages. It was just completely unexpected to me to get off the plane and hear 100% Spanish as I was walking throughout the terminal. It was exactly the same as if I had landed in San Juan

  28.  @552mustang  True....things are changing. But many jobs can't go telework.....like EMT/EMS.....which was the question asked by Ninja. I'm a Gen X....so maybe the last generation to have an employer that provides health and traditional retirement (not the 401K hoax). Millenials and Zoomers are basically going to live in the Hunger Games era.

  29.  @nitrohanktoursamerica5047  I though WY would be cheap. It isn't. WA is also no income tax state. But at least WA offers a normal life. And I'm not considering Seattle. I find myself in CO for everything other than milk, eggs, bread. And the UPS guy and I are at 1st name basis....since there is a package delivered to my door 4 days out of the week.

  33. Germany....high taxes....but the Autobahn has no tolls, and no potholes. Great medical and educational system. Even us USA folks can go to college in Germany free of charge. Only requirement is to be fluent in Deutsche .

  41. I almost moved to South Dakota 6 months ago. But then I remembered the 8-9 months of Winter I would have to live through. Detoured to Destin Florida. So far it’s ok.

  43.  @ninjagaming2036  WY has the lowest population in the country, so jobs are also limited within the state. Here in Cheyenne we only have 1 hospital, and a few clinics. Also a handful of assisted living facilities that are always hiring medical assistants. Pay is average here....sometimes below average. For example....an accounting job at the Air Force Base pays $10/hour.

  44.  @luvslogistics1725  I live in Cheyenne....on the southeast corner of the state. Warmest part of WY. We got snow on Sept 8 and 9. And we get snow in May. It snowed in June last year....but not in town. It was like 30 miles west.

  46.  @luvslogistics1725  Sheridan has 17k people. Closest civilization is Billings Montana, 2 hours away. I live in Cheyenne, and I feel like I'm living in isolation in Mars. Can't imagine what living in Sheridan would do to my sanity.

I spent a week at the Tree House Pointe in 2018, and talked to a lot of people from there to Bellevue, to Seattle.....and all mentioned that costs were pushing them out of the County. I really don't see any good places to live in anymore. My options were down to WA west of Cascades, or somewhere North Florida. But more and more I'm thinking I will end up moving overseas.
