I live in Wyoming. 95% of the state does not look like Jackson Hole. It looks like Nebraska.

I moved to Cheyenne WY in 2014 after retirement because of the tax benefits and other things that always come up on "best places to retire" lists. It was the greatest mistake of my life. I have to go to Colorado for everything....groceries, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, airport. So I save zero on taxes, and I waste a lot of money on gas. It would be cheaper to me to just live in Colorado, even if they tax retirement. Moving out of WY in 2021 to WA or Florida panhandle.

@janisbentzen4503 I was referring to the landscape. Every time I see a Wyoming video, it shows Teton/Yellowstone. But 95% of WY looks exactly like Nebraska, not like Jackson Hole.

@shaynefronheiser4662 We get a lot of people from ND that move here to Cheyenne ( Air Force).....and they say the winter is more bearable than ND. ND....a little more snow WY....way more windy Both winters are same length..up to 9 months long sometimes.

@karenriggle5435 I didn't say WY wasn't beautiful. I just pointed out that every video that talks about WY, only shows Teton and Yellowstone. But 95% of the state is flat high plains of nothingness.

@552mustang True....things are changing. But many jobs can't go telework.....like EMT/EMS.....which was the question asked by Ninja. I'm a Gen X....so maybe the last generation to have an employer that provides health and traditional retirement (not the 401K hoax). Millenials and Zoomers are basically going to live in the Hunger Games era.

@nitrohanktoursamerica5047 I though WY would be cheap. It isn't. WA is also no income tax state. But at least WA offers a normal life. And I'm not considering Seattle. I find myself in CO for everything other than milk, eggs, bread. And the UPS guy and I are at 1st name basis....since there is a package delivered to my door 4 days out of the week.

@ninjagaming2036 WY has the lowest population in the country, so jobs are also limited within the state. Here in Cheyenne we only have 1 hospital, and a few clinics. Also a handful of assisted living facilities that are always hiring medical assistants. Pay is average here....sometimes below average. For example....an accounting job at the Air Force Base pays $10/hour.

@luvslogistics1725 I live in Cheyenne....on the southeast corner of the state. Warmest part of WY. We got snow on Sept 8 and 9. And we get snow in May. It snowed in June last year....but not in town. It was like 30 miles west.
2
@luvslogistics1725 So you can have snow from Sept to May. 9 months of winter.

@luvslogistics1725 Sheridan has 17k people. Closest civilization is Billings Montana, 2 hours away. I live in Cheyenne, and I feel like I'm living in isolation in Mars. Can't imagine what living in Sheridan would do to my sanity.

@nitrohanktoursamerica5047 Wow...crazy. I know King County is out of control. I spent a week at the Tree House Pointe in 2018, and talked to a lot of people from there to Bellevue, to Seattle.....and all mentioned that costs were pushing them out of the County. I really don't see any good places to live in anymore. My options were down to WA west of Cascades, or somewhere North Florida. But more and more I'm thinking I will end up moving overseas.

@sethenewman4309 Can't have hate crimes if the state doesn't have hate crime laws. Lol.

Wyoming has low taxes.....but I have to go to Colorado for everything, so I end up spending a lot of money on gas, pay Colorado sales tax, Colorado tolls. So living in WY is more expensive to me. I would save money if I moved to Colorado

@sunray9941 People are super friendly here. And mostly mind their own business.

@bencowen5708 It will be a culture shock for sure. It was for me.....felt like I had landed in Mars. Thankfully politics do not bother me....I have lived in ths most liberal places, and most conservative. None of the two affect how I live. Cheyenne is a very safe town, and WY taxes are low compared to CA. Jobs do not pay that much, and cost of living is high due to the isolation of the place. I moved to Cheyenne thinking it was going to be my retirement place.....but realized very quick it was a bad Idea. Going to Colorado keeps me sane

@Rootkit_69 Not needed. I'm military retired. Moving from Wyoming to the Bay Area California in 3 weeks. Wife's work pays her for rent....so we are ok.

@michaelrustenberg7943 This year we got snow on Sept 8 and 9 in Cheyenne. And I think Cheyenne is the warmest spot in the state. We also get snow in May. When I say snow....I mean snow that blocks driveways. Other places in the state get snow up until June. Definitely not a pleasant way of life.
