  1. I feel very sorry for the deported man's employees and his four children. Yes, the wife voted for Trump but I can't help but empathize with people who are suffering. The employees and the kids especially didn't call this down on themselves. I'm guessing the wife still calls herself a conservative and will vote for Trump-supporting candidates for various political offices, even if she turns against Trump (which she may not do). So I struggle to find empathy or sympathy for this couple, although I still oppose the deportation on principle.

  2. Can someone tell me why it's legal to turn a house into a hotel in a residential-zoned neighborhood? Because that's what an AirBnB is, a hotel. It's a commercial enterprise. We have zoning laws for a reason. I used to live next to an AirBnB in Beverly Hills and we had the cops out there dealing with loud parties four, five nights a week, trash everywhere, illegal parking, etc. Beverly Hills eventually cracked down on AirBnBs and the woman who owned the house blamed her neighbors when she lost it to foreclosure, because her plan to pay it off depended 100% on AirBnB income. AirBnB and similar ventures need to be made illegal, full stop, no limits, just outlawed outright. Want to open a hotel? Fine, do it in a commercially zoned area of town.

  3. Native Kansan here. I live an hour away from Marion. The headline says there's no warrant. There was a warrant, issued by Judge Viar. Facts: 1. Kari Newell, the restaurant owner who is angry at the Marion County Record publishers because she thought they were going to publicize the fact that she's been driving without a license and has past DUI convictions, is the girlfriend of the police chief. 2. The Marion police chief, Gideon Cody, was forced to take early retirement from the KCMO police department because of multiple sexual harassment allegations. 3. The judge, Laura Viar, who issued the warrant is a very close personal friend of Kari Newell and is being backed by Newell's money and political influence to win appointment to a higher court. This ain't Mayberry, folks; it's Peyton Place.

  7. Hey guys: there is no question that a wife of 13 years deserves something. The question is, "how much"? TYT are mocking her not because Ms. Estrada wants money, it's that she thinks she can't live on $49 million. As for marrying outside your culture: be sure that you can accept all the norms of that culture. In many Muslim countries, men are allowed to take more than one wife. Ms. Estrada's asked for a divorce because her husband intends to do something that is both legal and socially permitted in Saudi Arabia: take a second wife. I rather suspect that Ms. Estrada is thinking Wife 2 will get all the money in the billionaire's will and is young enough to have children with him, which would also displace her. If she married him for money and not for love, she's getting as much money as she can now, before her position deteriorates. Cersei Lannister would be proud!

Look how tough these cops were when they were facing the unarmed parents (especially the women) versus how they cowered from a lone armed gunman. Btw, the Border Patrol tactical squad aren't heroes: they asked a girl to call out her location, which enabled the shooter to find her and kill her. So they actually added to the body count. No, I don't want to hear that the Supreme Court ruled cops have no legal duty to protect people. If that's the case, then the defund the police people are right. Either we give all this money and power to the cops and they protect us, or they don't protect us and we spend our tax money on something else. You can't eat your cake and have it, too.

I stayed exclusively in hotels, got bonus points, no extra fees, free breakfast, laundry service, etc, for half the cost of an AirBnB. Earned two free nights in a hotel because I used an app to book these stays. Hotels are also more conveniently located than AirBnBs and feel safer because of their design and location.

If I were her husband, I'd publicly offer to give her $49 million (which he already has) and the balance of what she's demanding would go into a charitable foundation to help educate, feed and house children in Third World countries (where people live on $1 a day).
