  1. I've come to the conclusion that there's no way we can restore the Republic. All of human history shows that once a society becomes an empire, the most valiant efforts to turn the clock back fail. The only way out is forward and down, which means we just have to watch and wait while the American Empire disintegrates and our nation deteriorates and declines. This is what happened to the Soviet Empire: it's gone now and it's never coming back, and Russia is left a poorer place for having been an empire. I believe that not only will the American Empire fall apart (and sooner rather than later), but that the United States itself will partition, with states such as California leaving the Union. This is not the way I want things to turn out, but that's how I believe it'll turn out.
