There are more vacant homes and apartments in this country than there are people needing housing--many of the units are being held out of the market on purpose to drive up prices for the remaining units. This is the direct result of a few large companies like Blackstone being allowed by Obama to scoop up millions of foreclosed homes and multi-family buildings during the last crisis 12 years ago. Many members of Congress are investors in these big national landlord companies or else take bribes (campaign contributions) from them.
