  1. A shoplifting gang tried to loot a retail clothing store in Munich while I was there. The store manager pressed a button and the doors electronically locked and a metal security roller descended, sealing the store's big picture window, then the staff went into a safe room and locked the door (leaving other customers, including me, at the mercy of the robbers). The Germans apparently have had this problem for some time.
