First books I read when I moved to LA in the 1990s. tldr; the wildfires are a result of building in historic firezones and then suppressing the natural cycle of wildfires, all to enrich billionaire real estate investors California allows storm water to run into the ocean rather than holding it in cisterns because capturing the water would harm some endangered species AND because plentiful water harms certain billionaires' business interests. In other words, it's not DEI this time, it's just that greed made people stupid.
