  1. I'm retired so I grocery shop in the middle of the day. I only see two types of shoppers: SNAP recipients and other retirees. Retiree carts have very little food in them because older folks are struggling to make ends meet with food inflation in double digits. SNAP carts are always piled high with goodies, always the name brands. No fruits or veggies, though. The SNAP recipients mostly appear young and healthy enough to work, and we're told that businesses are scrambling to find workers--in fact, there's a HELP WANTED sign at my local grocery store. If they want to supplement their food budget, maybe a job will put food on the table? It always did for me.
