My ancestors not only never held slaves, but several of them died in the War Between the States, aka the American "civil war" (there was nothing civil about it) fighting on the Union side to end slavery. In fact, my direct ancestors resettled to Kansas in the early 1850s to help ensure Kansas was admitted to the Union as a "free" state where slavery would be illegal. Still waiting on reparations for the harm caused to my family by all the men who were cut down in their prime fighting the pro-slavery Confederacy. No Bitcoin, thanks.

@harry.flashman Amazing story, thanks for sharing. I'm sure there are many more like that, but they get ignored. Black folk today are under the mistaken notion of the number of white people who owned slaves--US Census data from 1860 shows only 1.6% of the total white US population owned slaves, but somehow, 100% of currently living white folk "owe reparations". Only 5% of white folk in the Confederacy owned slaves. The idea that the rest of us "benefitted" from slavery in some way doesn't hold up under scrutiny: my ancestors were all farmers and none of them profited in any way from slavery; in fact, they sacrificed property and their own lives to curb and later exterminate slavery.
