  1. The tragedy of all this is that there are good writers for hire who respect the Tolkienverse. Given a chance, they might've created something watchable and intelligent. Perhaps this happened in another possible universe, the one where someone at Dealey Plaza yelled "Duck!" to JFK and the original Star Trek ran for 15 seasons.
