I once taught the daughter of a very famous rock star and of course met the girl's dad on Parents Night. He confessed to me that he had come to hate playing concerts because "the only people who can afford tickets to our shows are rich arseholes who just want to tick off a box that they saw us perform live--they don't give a shit about our music." Every successful artist eventually experiences this, I think.
