  1. DeSantis is very Machiavellian (that's a compliment): He rewards his friends and punishes his enemies. He doesn't appease his enemies, but he does give them a chance to back off. If they don't, he doesn't hesitate and goes for the throat, a decisive victory. That's always a calculated risk, but DeSantis is a military man (still in the naval reserves), unlike the draft-dodging Trump and Biden, and it shows in his thinking: leave the enemy one path of retreat, and if they don't take it, wipe them out.
