How about she actually went to Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to campaign in those key swing states? Yeah, actually campaign for President like everybody else instead of demanding that you be anointed the Chosen One.

But our lives have been very different: my family are the "deplorable" class, not Frank's respectable upper middle class folks, and I never admired Ronald Reagan: I always thought he was a jerk. None of my family, all of them Republicans, had anything except contempt for Reagan. We all looked up to Bob Dole, who is a sensible man.

  6. I don't agree that "we" (the socialists) can't compete on a national level. All of the third parties who supplanted an existing second party burst onto the scene very quickly. You have to mount a nationwide campaign and fight everywhere if you want to win.

  7. I disagree with Chris Hedges that uncensored images of war would stop people from supporting it. Does anyone remember the horrific pictures of torture done by US soldiers in Abu Ghraib? "We tortured some folks." We're still doing it. The American public possess a bottomless capacity for cognitive dissonance. All the Bad Stuff gets stuffed down the Memory Hole and we just sail on while our vicious masters pillage, torture, and murder their way across the globe.

  13. When (not if) there's another financial collapse on the scale of 2008, the Wall Street elite are in for a nasty shock: they can't just stroll into Washington and grab a $4 trillion bailout without risking a mass revolt. Obama covered for them last time but they can't count on that again.

  16. I said it ten years ago and I'll stick by it: Julian Assange is a hero and he'll die in prison. I'm surprised he's held out this long. I never had any faith in the US justice system, but I thought the British judiciary still had some independence and adherence to the rule of law. I was wrong about that. All our heroes are dead or behind bars and all the criminals are roaming rich and free.
