  3. There will be no gun control in this country, ever. The turning point was the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in 2012. 20 little kindergarteners killed in cold blood. The president even cried on television. Nothing. When a nation's soul is dead, when it elevates "gun rights" above the lives of its children, this is what it looks like: a different mass murder every day. This is the 233rd mass shooting this year. Uvalde mass murder of kids was 214, which means we had a bunch between then and now that didn't even make the news. Get used to this, people. This is our country now. No one is safe anywhere: not in the grocery store, not in the hospital, not at school, not in church or synagogue, not in our own homes. Guns aren't making us safer. But I'm through trying to reason with the people who insist "your dead kids aren't more important than unrestricted gun ownership." I stopped trying to reason with the unreasonable 10 years ago. This is our country now. How do you like it?

This is how many "LEO" were on the scene: 149 Border Patrol (federal) 91 Texas DPS (state) 25 Uvalde LEO (city) 5 CISD LEO (school) 260 "LEO" at EVERY level from multiple agencies and they let those kids be murdered. Letting those kids be murdered is part of cop culture. If we can't face that, we'll never fix this problem. Cop culture--pardon me, "LEO" culture--emphasizes OFFICER SAFETY FIRST, ABOVE ALL ELSE. Until we establish that the safety of CITIZENS is MORE important than officer safety, we will NEVER have better policing. And to any "LEO" who wants to pretend that this was just a one-off: why were so many federal, state, and local cops ALL cowards? Because you ALL have the same training and culture: Cops protect themselves, not us.

Why should my right to drive as fast as I want be restricted? Because a lot of people have trouble handling their cars above a certain speed of 65-70 mph, and would crash, killing themselves and others. Is it fair? No. World is not fair. But that's how it works. We have laws and restrictions for the safety of the general public. It takes longer to get a driver's license in my state than it does to buy a gun. There's something wrong there.

  28. The reason you've never seen a coverup like this before is because it involves cops. Cops are always protected from accountability, aside from a few sacrificial lambs. There were 367 cops who stood by while children were murdered. Facing up to this is facing up to cop culture, which emphasizes officer safety over citizens' lives (and the Supreme Court backs them up on that). You seriously think anyone in this country--especially TEXAS?--is going to face the fact that what caused those cops to hang back while kids were slaughtered is their training and culture? And that training and culture is everywhere in this country? There will be no accountability, no acknowledgement of the truth, and no peace for that community. Or for any of us. The police have broken the trust we citizens placed in them again and again. They won't fix it. We have to. If we don't, this will happen again.

  29. Arredondo isn't unique; he's actually a typical cop. Most are incompetent and cowardly and entitled. Whose fault is this? Ours. We allow only his type of personality to be recruited to our police forces. We allow politicians and cop worshippers to protect the police from public scrutiny, governance, and accountability. We hand these cops a badge and a gun and trust them with the power of life and death over us without demanding that they be men and women of the highest moral character. The issue goes far beyond mere policing, but this is a reminder that the police at Robb Elementary did what they were trained to do: PROTECT THEIR OWN LIVES. Officer safety is #1. Ask any cop and he'll tell you "I have no duty to protect civilian lives". And a lot of cop worshippers and politicians will shout "Amen!" This is why cops either stand by while people are being hurt/killed or shoot or maim people when they don't have to. Because their lives matter and ours don't. Simple as that. We need a complete change in US police culture. I won't hold my breath.

  34. I taught for 30 years and we had intruders on campus all the time. As you said, it's hard to get 100% compliance. I taught in California, where campuses are not single-building but "campus style", which makes security much harder.

  37. This wasn't caused by too many guns but by not enough guns. Absolutely the teachers and students should be armed. Well, maybe not the kindergarteners, but if you're old enough to be in first grade, you're old enough to pack heat. I'll bet those seven year olds can shoot really well if they're given a chance but these bleeding heart liberals are afraid to let the kids exercise their Second Amendment rights to be armed with lethal weapons. Maybe the gun manufacturers can come out with a special lightweight design just for kids under the age of 12. The schools should also be booby-trapped with anti-personnel mines and tiger pits. Maybe seal the schools airtight like a gas chamber and release a knockout gas during these mass shooter events. This will all cost money, of course, but we can just eliminate do-nothing programs like free school lunch and cut people's Medicaid and Social Security to pay for it. We can also cut money from the schools themselves by cutting all teacher pay by 50%. Teachers are all in unions that support the Democrats, who want to take our guns away. We need more guns, not fewer!
