  1. Inflation was very high in the early 1980s so Reagan had the calculation formula changed to lower it. The actual inflation rate using the pre-Reagan formula is around 35%, which is hyperinflation.

  5. Our economy has structural problems that can't be addressed entirely through monetary policy. We have monopolistic corporations that can charge whatever the hell they want, and that's just what they're doing.
