  2. Our local gun stores are reporting record business today. This always happens after a mass shooting, because people are afraid that the federal government is finally going to institute meaningful restrictions on firearms. Don't worry. If our country couldn't do anything after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in 2012, when twenty kindergarteners and six adults were murdered in cold blood, we won't do anything now. Sandy Hook was a turning point for this country: our refusal to take any steps to prevent another mass shooting means that we've accepted these as a way of life. What's that, this isn't a good time to discuss this? It's NEVER a "good time" to discuss this, is it? So we never do. This isn't the first mass shooting in the US and it won't be the last. And they will just keep getting bigger and deadlier, and it will never, ever, ever be the "right time" to discuss how to prevent it. By the way, I was a teacher for thirty years, including elementary school at one point. If you say "arm the teachers", I'll just ignore you. Because if having teachers pack pistols and rifles is your "solution", you are just too stupid for words. Y'all feel bad about this but you won't lift a finger to prevent another one. You can't bring back these little kids, but you could make the next shooting less likely. But you won't. So save your prayers and telling us all how really awful you feel. So do something. Words are meaningless. Only actions count.

  5. For all the cops who call themselves "LEO" and claim this was an anomaly. This is how many "LEO" were on the scene: 149 Border Patrol (federal) 91 Texas DPS (state) 25 Uvalde LEO (city) 5 CISD LEO (school) 260 "LEO" at EVERY level from multiple agencies and they let those kids be murdered. Letting those kids be murdered is part of cop culture. If we can't face that, we'll never fix this problem. Cop culture--pardon me, "LEO" culture--emphasizes OFFICER SAFETY FIRST, ABOVE ALL ELSE. Until we establish that the safety of CITIZENS is MORE important than officer safety, we will NEVER have better policing. And to any "LEO" who wants to pretend that this was just a one-off: why were so many federal, state, and local cops ALL cowards? Because you ALL have the same training and culture: Cops protect themselves, not us.

  8. Look at Arrendondo's face. He was terrified. Someone should have pushed him out of the way and taken command. We had a lieutenant like that in the Air Force: all swagger and polish but when we were under fire, he froze. A sergeant took over and issued the commands we needed to move as a team. The lieutenant retired as a colonel, by the way. Military isn't big on accountability, either.

  9. I always withdraw $5000 every Friday and throw the bundle of $50 and $100 on the passenger seat (car unlocked, of course) while I go for a two-hour lunch. Like all ordinary people.
