When Eric Meyer, the publisher of the Marion County Record, called Police Chief Gideon Cody, he didn't realize he was calling Kari Newell's boyfriend. It was also quite naive of Mr. Meyer to trust Chief Cody when Cody knew that Meyer's reporters were investigating Cody's sexual harassment charges at his former job as a captain with the KCMO police department.
