By the way, the police were not "helpless". Numerous reports from bystanders in the Millennium Park area was that cops were standing around joking, ignoring people getting beaten, basically doing nothing. I've seen the same in San Francisco and Los Angeles: cops stand by and do nothing, racking up some sweet, hands-in-pocket OT pay. The cops want chaos and crime because that's good for them in the long run. Remember, the LAPD stood down during the Rodney King riots and let LA burn--it took the National Guard to restore order.

  3. Yeah, where were the cops in riot gear? Because that was clearly a riot. Chicago PD is monumentally incompetent.
