@chrlpolk Here's my rule: I keep stabbing until you stop grabbing. You don't stab a guy and then hope he retreats. Because a wounded predator is the most dangerous animal there is. Once this started, there was only one way to end it. Who started it? The thug who attacked Mr. Alba and threatened him over a bag of potato chips.

@chrlpolk You've never been in a street fight in your entire life, have you? Adrenaline pumps, your entire body shakes, your heart beats so fast it feels like it's going to explode. It's called the fight or flight response. Mr. Alba couldn't flee so he struck out as hard and as fast as possible. It's unreasonable and stupid to expect a man to temper his blows in such a situation. Mr. Alba's attacker started the fight; Mr. Alba finished it.

You come into my place of business or my home and manhandle me when you're younger, bigger, and stronger, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to put you down. This seems like racism to me: a black DA defending a black thug who was there to intimidate an old man. Mr. Alba is clearly NOT black--wonder what the DA would've done if he were? When I lived in Oakland and San Francisco, black thugs used to target Asians because they viewed Asians as smaller, timid, an easy target. The police didn't (and still don't) take black people attacking Asians seriously--it's not a "hate crime" if black folks are doing it. That, to me, also seems racist. Or am I wrong and this is just a colorblind "let the thugs run wild" policy that the ruling class have unleashed on us because it keeps us scared and on edge while they're insulated from its consequences?

I've been in street fights. My dad taught me: you get the other guy down on the ground as fast as possible and KEEP HIM THERE. Because another man can kill you in a fight--and if you're fighting outside a boxing ring with a referee, the only rule that applies is: WIN. If you're smaller and weaker and need to stab or shoot someone to do that, that's what you do.

I would've felt threatened, too. I'm pushing sixty and even in my prime, I'd have had trouble handling that thug. We should be able to feel safe in our places of work and our homes, which means we have the right to defend our lives and our property.
