Here's the faulty reasoning: FALSE: Black men are arrested and imprisoned at higher rates than other demographics of men, therefore the justice system is racist TRUE: Black men are arrested and imprisoned at higher rates than other demographics of men because they commit more crimes than other demographics of men. Example: Black men are 6% of the population but commit 52% of the murders. That's a murder rate 866% higher than their representation in the population. This statistic actually undersells the problem, since black men 18-35 are committing most of the 52% of murders, and that segment of black men are only 4.5% of the total population. 4.5% of the population committing 52% of the murders. A murder rate 1155% higher than the rest of the population. Think about that.
